About Me

Lisa Morra, MSW, LCSW-S, RPT, CCATP, CCTP

Qualifications:

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Supervisor Certification (LCSW-S) and close to 25 years of experience counseling children, adolescents, and adults. I am also a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP). In addition, I have experience working in the educational system, and hold a certification in School Social Work.

Therapeutic Approach:

My approach is warm and compassionate. Through a therapeutic relationship, together we will take the necessary steps toward healing and acceptance.

Nothing is more heartbreaking or painful than watching your child experience a hardship or problem that you cannot resolve. As a Registered Play Therapist, I have experience helping children overcome stress, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. In many cases, moving forward involves child-parent relationship therapy, as well as parent coaching.

My skill set also includes counseling foster and adoptive families, with extensive experience with several adoption agencies. I have enjoyed helping families identify and overcome the unique challenges that arise when trying to care for, bond and attach with their child. I have training in TBRI (trust-based relational intervention), which is helpful in understanding and fostering attachment.

Sometimes your child’s struggles will involve the school. I have first-hand experience writing and interpreting IEPs (Individualized Educational Plan). I can also help you navigate the school system so you can be a better advocate for your child.

When working with adolescents and adults, I utilize a CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) approach, while also pulling from a variety of therapeutic treatment modalities. Counseling and helping adults overcome depression, stress, anxiety, trauma and grief is an important part of my practice. This includes introducing you to the tools that will allow you to better manage emotional demands and conflict that can occur at home, work, and with family and friends.

Life can feel overwhelming and problems can seem insurmountable, but there is always a way to make things better. I look forward to providing a therapeutic solution for you and your family.
